1. The ferry ride over. Enjoy great views of the Mackinac bridge and get your first taste of Mackinaw Island charm as you pull up from the water with the wind in your hair.
2. No cars- only bikes and horse drawn carriages! Take full advantage and ride bikes around the 8 mile loop of the island. I had my first tandem biking experience here and it was too much fun! The road wraps around the outer edge of the island along the lake with plenty of spots to stop and dip your toes in.
3. Fudge! This place is home to some delicious fudge shops. Let the smell pull you in and watch in awe as they make it from scratch it in these precious little shops.
4. Houses to die for! No street has more curb appeal then W Bluff Rd on Mackinac Island. Wander along and day dream about your future home goals.
5. A place with so many beautiful homes of course also has the most precious boutique inn’s to stay in. Feel at home on the front porches and enjoy afternoon refreshments.
6. The Grand Hotel! Hosting guest since 1887 this is one of America’s most iconic hotels. Kick back in the rocking chairs on the longest porch I’ve ever seen or enjoy happy hour over looking the Straights of Mackinac from the top of the hotel in the Cupola Bar.
7. Flowers everywhere! The whole island is blossoming with flowers of every color.
8. See Arch Rock, a natural arch tucked away on the edge of the island. You’ll see it from below if you take a ride along the outer loop and there is a trail you can hike up to see it from above.
9. Downtown Mackinac is just as charming as the rest of the island with great restaurants and shops.
10. Run the Mackinac Island 8 mile road race! The weekend after Labor Day Mackinac Island host a race around its outer loop. There is no elevation change and it’s the perfect distance with great scenery the whole way and crowds cheering you on.
